Integration of sports in education is non-negotiable as it serves to foster holistic development and promote physical and psychological well-being while also enhancing cognitive abilities. Sports integration ensures the development of essential skills such as collaboration, self-initiative, self-direction, self-discipline, teamwork, responsibility, citizenship, etc. Lessons learned on the sports field are life-long.
All Physical Development activities are carried out at school with an aim to help students inculcate abilities in teamwork, problem-solving, conflict resolution, success management, and decision-making. With guidelines from the CBSE, Vandya helps students be educated in Physical Development through the following:
A free space to grow and learn at Vandya is offered through the Sports Arena. The school offers a range of indoor and outdoor sports facilities, right from Swimming, Skating, Athletics, Gymnasium Area, Squash, Shooting to Cricket, Badminton, Table-Tennis, Chess, Soccer, Basketball, Lawn-Tennis, Hockey, and Volleyball.
Metaphorically and literally, acing the peaks is an all-year-round activity. Students are taken to treks such as Haflong Hill, Garbhanga, etc. To ensure student safety and due to crisis management, a group of a teacher and experts accompany the students on all such excursions. The idea is to not just keep students fit but also enable them in areas of team-building, communication, leadership, risk assessment, and crisis management
For students to have the right training to ensure personal safety basic self-defense is taught as a part of the regular school curriculum. The students are equipped to identify red flags in a social setting thus enabling them to sense and voice out dangers. The students are also taught age-appropriate combat. Regular classes are done by experts and the sports department to make sure that students are well-trained to identify and react.
Children’s education and health are the two most rewarding investments. The school nutritionist checks on the student’s food and well-being and advises them on any additions or changes needed. Students’ physical health is also ensured through regular rounds of planned exercises and drills.
Students are taken through an age-appropriate curriculum that teaches them how to understand and raise red flags. The school strictly implements POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses) and has invested in teachers and staff to be well-trained in it.
